Atlantic Crossing 10/02/2019

The tickets have been bought, the plans have been made.  Time to begin our trip.  Harry and Amanda arrived at our house and we drove to Atlanta.  We parked our car at the Hilton and rode the shuttle bus to the Atlanta airport.  Our driver was an  Alabama fan.  He congratulated us on our season, but was quick to point out that our dreams would dashed when Saban and the boys come to Auburn.  I told him we would concern ourselves later with that, but now we were on our way to Europe.
We checked in, cleared customs, ate lunch, and waited for our flight to be called. This was our first flight to Europe on American  Airlines.  Since this was a short trip, we decided to pack lightly and use carry on luggage. Our seats were behind the curtain near the back of the bus.  I don't know how many groups there are to board, but we were group 7.  That did not sound good.  I mentioned we had carry on luggage,  When we checked in, we were given the option of paying $31.00 each to have the privilege of boarding first and store our luggage.  We passed on that and decided to save that money to spend in Budapest.  However, when group 7 was called to board,  we were told all overhead bins were full, and we were required to check our bags through to Budapest. On more than one occasion on past trips we gotten to our destination a couple of days before our luggage made it.  You can imagine our concern.  Going forward, an uneventful trip over, ( I want talk about the "moderate" turbulence we experienced). we landed along with our luggage.  Our taxi driver was there to take us to our hotel.  The weather was a sun shiny 63 degrees.  Our hotel was nice and centrally located.  We settled in, unpacked  and began to explore Budapest,  The adventure is underway.
